I am preparing to launch a data science survey in the next couple of weeks. This study will be help verify the findings from a similar study I conducted two years ago (see Investigating Data Scientists, Their Skills and Team Makeup) as well as help me explore additional topics of interest (e.g., satisfaction with data science bootcamps, platforms and deployment models). If you are a data professional and would like to complete the study, please sign up for my newsletter or follow me on social media (twitter, LinkedIn, Google+) as I will announce the launch of the study via those vehicles.
In preparation for that study, I am conducting polls for data professionals using Twitter (#DataProPoll) on some of the topics (people, processes and technologies) I will be studying in my larger study.
If you are on Twitter (and a data professional), you can take this week’s #DataProPoll below.

Below are the results of the recent polls I conducted.
Satisfaction with Project Outcome
63% of data professionals are satisfied with the outcome of the analytics projects on which they work. 37% of them are dissatisfied.

Analytics for Machines or Humans
Most of the data professionals (63%) said the data work they do is for human consumption while only 15% of data professionals said the data work they do is for machine consumption.

The Data Science Survey
Be sure to sign up for my newsletter or follow me on social media (twitter, LinkedIn, Google+) if you want to hear about the upcoming data science survey. Each respondent to the data science survey will receive a free self-assessment of their proficiency across five data science skills and an executive summary of the report.
